Sometimes I just get totally stupefied by what comes out of our Democratic
leadership in Washington. Karl Rove is the master of knowing how to trigger
the emotions and attention of our leaders to take them on a merry chase to
nowhere.
Karl has struck again! And the Democratic leadership is enraged! And now the
posturing games begin!
John Kerry wants you to sign a letter to the "President, urging him to thoroughly
reject Karl Rove's purposeful attack on the patriotism of those who dare ask the
tough questions that best protect American troops". That ought to do it; George
will surely bench Karl now!
Hillary says; [for Rove] "To go to New York City and say what he said is just
almost unimaginable, Either he said something in a hasty, ill-conceived,
reckless moment ... or he said it deliberately, as part of a continuing effort to
divide Americans." (Yeah, like Karl Rove has ever had a hasty ill conceived
reckless political moment ) Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid and many more have
jumped up to chastise Rove and point out that he is a divider and a meany.
Whilst all our Senatorial leaders are being publicly offended; John Conyers, on
the other hand, is trying to get congressional support to persuade (force) the
President to answer his questions, about the "Downing Street Memos". This
will expose and confirm that lies were told to lead us into the the pre-emptive
attack on Iraq. This is a worthwhile project that might actually accomplish
something in the long run. Yet none of the above have signed up to help.
And on right wing talk radio, a 2 day laugh-fest has erupted over how dumb the
Democrats are! Karl said nothing about Democrats, only mentioned liberals and
a whole cadre of Democrats jumped up and said: "I'm Liberal", "color me guilty,
oh, and I'm offended" As an 80 year old lady said (in her giddy crackly voice)
today on the Limbaugh show.: "I want to take that Karl Rove fishin' with me. He
knows how to bait 'em, hook 'em and set that hook on those Democrats".
When is the Democratic leadership in Washington going to wake up to; "This is
Politics, this isn't Mother, May I?" When are they going to realize that Karl is
never going to play nice? His job is to divert our attention away from more
important matters. Our self proclaimed "leaders", wishing to shine as THE
standard bearer, get so caught up in the "flexing our politically correct
muscles" game, they don't even know Karl has engaged them and beaten them,
again, in a game of misdirection.
When are the Washington elite going to recognize they may have the jobs right
now; but Howard Dean has the hearts and minds and support of the people?
When will they figure out; they should give him all of the support and
cooperation they can muster? For what he is saying mirrors how most of us
little people feel. Even when he talks out of turn by their standards; we stand
behind him and we are, after all, their votes. When is John Kerry going to
realize (or when is somebody going to tell him) he will never be President, so
give up the posturing. It's time for him to get to work in the Senate for the
people he represents? When is Hillary going to understand, we're not too sure
she's our gal for 2008, but if she changes all of her positions on the hot button
issues to become Ms. Republican light, we sure don't want her?
Where do we find a leader who will keep his eyes on governing instead of
electioneering? One who is smart enough not to rise to Karl's bait. One who
could simply respond Rove's comment in straight talk like: "Ah, bullshit Karl, we
were with you in Afghanistan and supported the President in Iraq, right up until
the time we found out he lied to us". I think this kind of a response would have
been met with the sound of over 100 million blue hands clapping and deafening
cheers coming from all states in the union.
I think It's time to retrain or ditch the prima donas and the game players. It's
time for the Democratic leadership to focus, on the problems that threaten our
way of life here: the deficit, health care, education, and that damnable war that
has killed and maimed so many of our own, killed tens of thousand Iraqis and
ruined our image internationally. It's also time for us, you and me, to somehow
get the word to our leaders to forget their images, drop the childish word blame
game and concentrate on solving the problems that plague us all.
For those of you who want to be heard, I suggest you join the Dean machine and
Democracy for America (see website) While you are there, click on the one
minute video "The Downing Street Memos, the Smoking Gun to an immoral war".
Show it to your friends, all of your friends. Maybe join a local DFA group, they
are everywhere, click on meet ups (upper left) to find one.
Support John Conyers in his efforts to get the President to answer his
questions about the "Downing Street Memos" (read story here) and then go to
moveon.org to add your voice to the to those of us who want the real truth
exposed about when the decision was made to go to war with Iraq and why the
President lied to us! And if you are feeling particularly patriotic, write your
newspaper and ask them why the Downing Street Memo story wasn't covered
on the front page. Or write your members of Congress, suggesting they
support Congressman Conyers.

"This," cried the Mayor, "is your town’s darkest hour!
The time for all whos who have blood that is red
To come to the aid of their country!" he said.

So, open you mouth lad! For every voice counts!"
